來自加拿大的獨立樂團【Walk Off the Earth】翻唱Gotye的暢銷曲《Somebody That I Used To Know》，2012年1月5日他們把影片上傳到YouTube之後，隨即被網友熱烈轉載。5位團員同時彈奏一把吉他，各負責不同的弦位與音效，並輪流演唱、合唱，冷靜吶喊清新悅耳，展現樂團的風格又不失原曲的情殤苦味，一鏡到底實在精采！至1月16日止，這支MV的點閱率已達2200萬，剛剛再看已有2770多萬人次；iTunes上面也可下載此曲。
Gotye（本名 Wouter "Wally" De Backer）1980年5月21日在比利時出生，2歲時與家人搬到澳洲，青少年時期就展現音樂的熱情，與高中3個同學組一個樂團（Downstares），他的音樂創作多樣化，最喜愛Kate Bush、Depeche Mode等藝人團體。
Gotye於2003年2月發行首張專輯《Boardface》。2006年第二張專輯《Like Drawing Blood》有兩首歌獲得 Triple J Hottest 100（"Heart's a Mess" 第8名， "Learnalilgivinanlovin" 第94名），並獲 Triple J 電台聽眾票選2006年度最佳專輯第一名的肯定；2011年再獲 Triple J 澳洲當代熱門百大專輯第11名（Triple J's Hottest 100 Australian Albums of All Time）、ARIA（澳洲唱片工業協會）專輯排行榜第13名。 《Learnalilgivinanlovin》一曲也被2009年的電影「飆速青春」（Whip It）選為插曲，收錄在電影原聲帶中。
新專輯的首支單曲《Eyes Wide Open》在2010年10月發行之後，2011年7月才發行第二支單曲《Somebody That I Used To Know》，邀請紐西蘭創作女歌手 Kimbra（Kimbra Johnson）合作，收錄在2011年8月發行的第三張專輯《Making Mirrors》，發行一週即衝上ARIA澳洲專輯榜冠軍。
「Somebody」一曲在全球各地頻傳佳績，尤其澳洲、奧地利、比利時、德國、荷蘭、紐西蘭等各國都拿下排行榜冠軍，也被美國青春偶像劇《90210》、《Gossip Girl》選為電視插曲。
2011年11月Gotye奪得 ARIA年度最佳單曲（Somebody That I Used To Know）、最佳男藝人、最佳流行專輯等三項大獎，而女歌手 Kimbra 也以《Cameo Lover》一曲獲年度最佳女藝人獎。
這首《Somebody That I Used To Know》是Gotye 依自身經歷所寫的歌，描述戀人分手後的矛盾關係與心情『... Well you said that we would still be friends.
